When you see us for your comprehensive initial examination & cleaning, please plan to be with us for about 90 minutes. During that time, we will collect information from a physical examination of your head, neck, jaws, throat and--last but not least--your mouth.
Additionally we will:
- review of your medical and dental history so we can be aware of any concerns or problems
- conduct an oral cancer examination
- perform tooth examinations; checking for cracks, decay, and worn restorations
- perform gum measurements to determine the health of the gums and bone underneath
- take low-radiation digital x-rays, which show us decay, infection, bone condition
- plan to discuss any concerns or expectations you may have
- try to perform full cleaning, polishing and fluoride treatment
The dentist will then meet with the Treatment Coordinator to review any treatment that may be necessary for you, and then set-up an order for appointments. You will be given several options for treatment and their associated costs.
